Making your Own Taper Candles Taper candles are the most widely used candles along with pillar candles and tealight candles. They are manufactured in millions every year owing to its demand. It is used in many places when there is a power cut or for candle lit dinners. There is no better choice to make than the traditional taper candle. The traditional white taper candles are also used to offer prayers or even make great gifts! Taper candles no doubt have an exciting array of purposes and making them is no less exciting. All you will need is some basic necessary materials to make the candle, which starts with the wax, the wicks, color, scent or aroma oils if you want your taper candles to be perfumed, vessels and molds, glitter and other candle accessories that will beautify it. The best part about shopping for these materials is that you will have a wide range of each of them to choose from and each material gives a new kind of candle. For instance you will have a wide range of waxes that you can choose from though it’s the paraffin wax that is typically used. Besides that you will have an array of colors, many wick sizes, loads of different perfumes, and different molds to choose from. The accessories like the designer taper candle holders, the traditional candle stand, candle chandeliers, and glitter glue are all to make your candle stunning. The process of making the taper candles is easy. This is something that is really fun for children to do, but remember that it should always be done only under adult supervision. First you will have to cover your work place with newspaper or any such material since this can turn out to be a little messy and it is very difficult to scrape off dried wax. Next you must light the stove and put a double container in it, the bigger one that contains water, which in turn helps heat the smaller container that contains the wax that you need. Remember to use the right amount of wax, which will be determined by the size of your mold. If you want the taper candles to be colored you could also add any color of your choice. Make sure to add them in small amounts since the wax will turn into a deeper shade of the same color if it is added in larger amounts. You could also add perfume to it in order to give it a fragrance that you like to make scented candles. That could range from floral, fruits, coffee beans to ice cream flavors, and chocolate. Only a few drops of the scent should be added or the candle might not burn properly and it could get unpleasant. Once the wax is ready it can be poured into its molds. After this you must immediately insert a wick at the center of the candle. Before inserting it you can wind it to a long thin rod or a chopstick or a pencil that will stand over the mold while the wick cools on. Once it becomes a solid taper candle you can cut the wick off and decorate the candle to your taste. Go ahead; make your own taper candles for your next romantic dinner date!
