Before you start coping with your stress, it is a good idea to find out what actually causes it. This will let you deal with causes rather than effects and make stress vanish almost instantly. However, the problem is that what we usually perceive as the true reason of your stress is only a trigger while the real reason of your present condition are buried much deeper than you suspect. Unless you want to spend fortune on psychotherapists, sit back, relax and start looking for the possible reasons. The best way to do it is making a list of all potential causes, then eliminate them one by one. Get a piece of paper and start making notes. List all situations in your life that make you feel bad. Try to be as specific as you can, but if you feel strongly about more general problems, you may include them in your list. After completing the first part of your list (stressful situations), go on to the next section - people that make you feel stressed. Remember that you must not hesitate - never continue a relationship that makes you feel bad or too stressed unless it is absolutely necessary. And even in those situations it is usually a good idea to contact that person only if it can't be avoided. The next section of your notes will be devoted to more positive activities. Try to think of every activity you should do to make things better. How should your lifestyle be changed to make you feel less stressed? Do you need a change in your family life? Maybe changing your job will help? Or maybe you just need a bunch of new friends to meet? Take your time and think about it - this will be framework of your life plan for the next few months or years. When you're finished, start a final section of your list: entertainment. Write down everything you like doing regardless of whether you actually do them. You have to know what makes you happy and relaxed - those two feeling are about the only shield you have against stress. When you finish the list, read it again. You will see that all advice you need are already there. All you have to do is to apply them in practice. Just remember to read the list from time to time and add/remove things depending on your current situation. If you do everything you have written down, your stress will soon be gone for good.
