Grocery coupons are offered by stores or by manufacturers. Manufacturers will offer coupons during the launch of a product as part of the process of introducing it into the market and giving customers a chance to test drive the new product. Grocery stores may offer discount coupons in conjunction with the manufactures or to move slow moving stock or just to pull in more customers to their stores.

Grocery stores publish their bargain coupons either in weekly fliers or online if they have a website. All customers need to do is to present the coupons at the check out counter and receive the reduction on the product. Manufacturers discount coupons can be mass mailed (especially for product launches) or they may be available on demand for those who want them. Some independent websites offer coupons from selections of product brands that are available on demand online. If you are looking at trying a new product but do not want to pay the full price only to find that you do not like it then you can ask for such coupons. They are usually mailed out within a week. Also they are good for products that you use frequently. There is a limit though as to the number of coupons you may ask for in a certain period of time. Other times you will be able to print online coupons from the website cut them out and use them at the store.

Other good places to get coupons are in the magazines you read and newspapers. Manufactures will sometimes include coupons within the packaging of one of their products to promote a new one or to launch an improved product or a new flavor especially with groceries. But sometimes you can apply the coupons discount directly on the product you are buying. Product packaging is a good way for companies to carry out promotions for example when you may find a sticker on a yogurt product that is being promoted or nearing it's expiry date that you can use immediately, or you may find a cereal box that is marked with an offer to save $ on your next purchase of orange juice and too look inside the box for details and coupon.

Another way is to register for mailing lists of companies that you would like to receive coupons from. Just call their customer service numbers and find out if they have mailing lists for coupons. Another way is to swap coupons among friends for those that you need against that you have no use for. Coupons come in circles whether in magazines in store or online find out when they are distributed so you can plan your saving trips.
